You don't have to be balanced {hurray!}

Ocean Splash photo by D Sharon Pruitt {flickr creative commons} Earlier this week I had a decision to make and I asked someone I trust for wisdom. The response? Not a strategic plan or five steps to success. Instead a simple, "It's okay to say 'no', Holley."

And I realized that's exactly what I needed to hear. I tend to want to please people, to keep them happy, to worry that someone will misunderstand my heart.

The other side of the spectrum is true as well. There have been times when it seems God has asked me to embrace new challenges. "I don't have what it takes to say 'yes' to that!" I squeak. And then He gently shows me that, in spite of my fears, I actually do.

It's a constant back and forth between "yes" and "no" in our lives. And I imagine it will always stay that way. I don't believe in balance--I believe in being led by the Spirit. If you look at the life of Jesus, it was wildly imbalanced.

When we get stuck--when we always say "yes" or always say "no" then that's when we need to be concerned. Because we're called to freedom, to flow, to embracing whatever God puts in front of us whether it's little or much.

Imagine standing at the edge of the beach and hearing the ocean say, "But I just want balance." We'd shake our heads and laugh. "Silly ocean," we'd say, "You're made for movement. You're made for waves. We need you to be that way for the world to work."

Are you stuck today in a season of always saying "yes" or always saying "no"? Then let me lean in and whisper to your heart, "It's okay to let go of control."

The God who shaped the universe with just a few words has promised to take care of you. He loves you and He'll be with you through all the ups and downs, "yes" and "no's".

Balance?

It makes for a pretty boring ride.

And you, my fabulous friend, were made for so much more.

Oh, my. So very true! I like this twist on it - it is wildly imbalanced, for sure, but when it's Spirit led, it can be successful beyond our wildest dreams.

And that's just - well, wild! :)

Smiling and waving,

Rhonda

Oh Holley,This is right on target! I have learned, however, that once I say, "Yes," to what God wants me to do, I had better be prepared for the ride of a lifetime. WooHoo!!God bless you!!

God Bless You, Holley! The Lord uses you to speak directly to MY HEART with the exact same message you share daily. I am sure we are twin souls, just separated by different mothers but same (Heavenly) Father. Learning about Grace, Forgives and esp. about Letting Go of Control - allowing God to Lead has always been the one area He needs to work on with me. Thank you so much for your inspiration. In His Love Always, Jodi Hess

I could not have said it better! So needed in these days. "Be still and know that I am God." By His Spirit alone should come the "yes" or "no". Thanks, Holley.

How refreshing and reaffirming to hear from you, Holley! We all need this remonder now and then. Right now, I am imbalenced, literally. Just had a total hip replacement and walking isn't quite even yet, as it was so painful before surgery. Gotta trust the new hip, tho, and put more faikth into my healing! Thanks for sharing!

"And you, my fabulous friend, were made for so much more.."

That is so nice to hear! Love how that hangs in the air and I say, "Really?"

He does have good plans for us, doesn't He?
