You Are Wonderfully Made!
Where something is made matters to us. Look at the tag on most any product and you’ll likely see a line like these imprinted on it:
Made in China
Made in Mexico
Made in America
And if you could see the line imprinted on your heart, it would read, Made in heaven.
The word made usually conjures up visions of factories and impersonal production lines, but the way heaven creates is entirely different. Every part of you was carefully and intricately crafted by God. Of course, that creation was carried out physically in your mother’s womb, but the idea of you started in the heart of heaven itself….
Max Lucado says in Cure for the Common Life...
“Da Vinci painted one Mona Lisa. Beethoven composed one Fifth Symphony. And God made one version of you… We exist to exhibit God, to display His glory. We serve as canvases for His brushstroke, papers for His pen, soil for His seeds, glimpses of His image.”
God longs for His children to embrace the worth and value He’s given them and then use it to bless others. When we know who we are and whose we are, we’re free to love, live with joy, and make a difference in the world.
You are wonderfully made.
You’re formed by God’s hands,
dreamed up in His heart,
and placed in this world for a purpose.
There’s no one else like you...
You’re one of a kind, irreplaceable.
God has given you everything you need
and created you just as you need to be
to make a difference
in your own wonderful way.
So go for it, friend.
The world is waiting
and heaven is cheering you on.

I often need to remind myself that I was made by God and that it doesn't matter what others think of me because I am perfect in his eyes!
Thank you, Holley, for each of these reminders, and for the chance each week to participate and share my thoughts along with you.
"Wonderfully made", I'm going to get on my soap box for a second and say "If kids would realize the care with which they were created there would be no eating disorders, no drug abuse, no alcohol abuse, etc. My neice nearly died from anorexia and she is still not mentally well. If she only could get it down deep inside herself that God knit her together in the womb and she is fearfully and wonderfully made. My prayer is someday she will get it."
Understanding that God made me for a purpose is not always easy to comprehend. I seek HIs Will and His Way every day but I don't often see how He is at work in the moment. Then it hits me - what just happened would not have happened had God not been right here with me. WOW - what a God moment! That happened yesterday when a co-worker told me "There are people in this world who make you a better person just because they are in your life. You are that person for me." Just when I was feeling pretty insignificant, God sent me a reminder that He was at work - even when I didn't see it.
I needed this today! I've been looking outside myself for too long to get the kind of emotinal perks I need...and even though they don't intend to, humans fail. We are all only human. And it's unfair of me to expect everyone around me to prop me up all the time and be responsible for my happiness. God has recently been teaching me that the companion I long for is Him and Him alone. And to know that He made me, in heaven, gives a new perspective that I'd always known but yet forgotten in the whirlwind of looking for affirmation from others. Thanks for this reassurance!
Thank you, dear Holley. You are God's hand picked encourager to us women and He certainly knew what He was doing when He chose you. :) God bless you and lift your heart today!
I have to remind myself somedays that no matter how I feel about myself... God loves me and He has chosen me... Self acceptance can be hard especially when you are older and you are still single as I am... But God has a way of reminding me that He is time and and regardless of being married or single... I am loved and beautiful!! thanks for the email.... loved the reminder...
Thank you, Holley. I needed this today because I've been pretty discouraged about where God would have me. I have been in ministry, done so much, have lots of dreams, but drew back a few years ago at the Lord's leading to rest and recooperate after a difficult time in my life. Now I'm longing to return to the things I love to do, but the doors keep getting shut! It's hard not to wonder if God isn't pleased with me (though I know He is, because of Christ and because of what He tells me in His Word) or if I'm not ready (then my response is ok, what?? Just tell me what to work on and I'm there!). Or perhaps I'm not looking in the right place. But God is God, fully able to commnunicate to me and lead. And I know He knows what's best and His timing is best. Anyway, thank you for the reminder. Really appreciate it today! God bless...
This is so cool - I received your (this) book on Friday, and started reading it yesterday - I'm treating it like a Bible study, & doing a chapter a day. Today's chapter just "happened" to be "Wonderfully Made" - LOVE the reinforcement, and God's timing!
I really needed to read this today. I struggle with my value sometimes since my husband's unexpected passing. Especially when I'm overwhelmed with raising the kids on my own and trying to fit in all the things I need to do. Reading that I'm Made in Heaven and that I matter to him just gave my heart a much needed lift today. Thank you for writing from your heart. God Bless you for your willingness to be used by Him in such a mighty way.
