You are Blessed!

“Bless you!”

“Let’s say the blessing.”

“Bless your heart.”

“God bless America.”

The word “bless” has become part of our everyday language. We look at it casually, almost like a slightly more spiritual version of a wish. Even those with highly sensitive radars for political correctness can accept the word “bless.” Yet this word began as much more than a desire for well-being in another person or nation. Rolf Garborg says in The Family Blessing:

Throughout the Bible we find ample evidence that the God of Abraham was a God of blessing. In fact, the words bless or blessing appear in Scripture in some form or another about seven hundred times. Apparently Abraham, along with countless other people in the Bible, needed and welcomed the grace, power, and encouragement that could be poured into their lives through God’s blessing.

The first blessing appears in Genesis 1:22, “God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and increase in number.” This type of blessing is yours simply because you exist. All of humanity experiences God’s goodness in many ways. As Jesus said, “God causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good” (Matthew 5:45).

For those of us who are in Christ the blessings go much deeper. Not only do we share in the physical blessings of this earth; we also receive the spiritual blessings of heaven. The verse above makes an astounding claim—every spiritual blessing is ours through Christ. God has not withheld anything from us. Grace, peace, hope, love, strength…they are all ours.

Next time you hear someone casually exclaim, “Bless you!” take a moment to pause and remember you are already blessed. Far more than you could ever ask or imagine has been given to you through Christ. You are spiritually rich beyond your wildest dreams. Our Heavenly Father held nothing back from us—may nothing hold us back from living fully in His blessings.

You are blessed

not just with what you need for today

but with everything that matters for all eternity.

You are blessed

not just with good things

but with the best of all God has to offer

You are blessed

not just because you’re alive

but because you’re loved by One who’s Life Himself.

You are blessed

not just so you can receive

but so you can give and be a blessing too

(and you are).

Thank you for sharing these thoughts/truths, Holley.

I so need this this morning. It has been rough, and it is only 8:25. :( To be reminded how blessed we are in spite of ourselves and everything else is refreshing and more. I especially like the prayer "Our Heavenly Father held nothing back from us—may nothing hold us back from living fully in His blessings." NOTHING!!! Praise God for His Holy Spirit within us to help us maintain our focus on our Heavenly Father and Savior!

Whether that plumbing bill is $5 or $500, I am blessed. Sometimes when I am in the moment I forget that truth. I shed some tears last week over lack of funds for certain things, one of them being a leak in our plumbing. It cost us $6 to fix, I praised God afteer we spent the $6. Why didn't I praise Him before the $6 bill. We are so blessed and we so often forget in the heat of the moment.

I needed this "Holley' so badly this morning..sometimes you get so caught up in the day to day anxieties, money problems, and just aggravations, that you lose sight of the important things. Cried myself to sleep last night and woke to a panic attack this morning. So silly, I just got moved from a horrible living situation, and I am blessed..the money problems, the issues of things needing fixing, like the furnace not working, the wiring....silly, I am blessed, God has brought me this far, He will help with the rest...I am not alone, because He loves me and I am blessed....now it's tears of joy..thank you for reminding me...I am blessed...He loves me.

Thanks for the reminder. My eyes are often dim; it would be good for me to always have wide eyes, expectant of how God is available and calling to me to walk in His Kingdom.
The phrase: bless you - I have wanted to "revise" when I send encouragement to other Christians. Because I too have realized the person is already blessed!! Yet I want them to SEE it or LOOK for IT :) ....So, sisters, reading this, what is a way to say " this" (like at the close of an email or card).
I look forward to what your ideas are!

I think this is one we often forget or take for granted ... the feeling or "knowing" of being blessed. Yet ... the beatitudes in Matthew has always been one of my favourite parts of Gospel teachings. It is beautifully simple and deep in its richness of God's grace all at the same time.
As Holley mentioned we use "bless" or hear the word being used as a synonym for words like wish and here in the UK, in a phrase like, "Ah, bless" for "isn't that sweet". It doesn't detract from the word but it doesn't speak volumes as it does in the beatitudes or in the scriptures mentioned by Holley.
Thank you for the reminder. I am blessed. You are blessed. We are blessed. What a wonderful feeling of well-being.

We so easly forget that we are blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places! They are ours to claim and enjoy. Praise, Glory and Honor to Our Lord Jesus Christ! God "Bless" you Holley as you enjoy your time away.

I am blessed by God's grace, his love and forgiveness. I am blessed by His encouragement. I am not lucky to have such wonderful mentors, I am BLESSED by God, to have found Holley, Max Lucado, Joyce Meyer and Joel Osteen.
